HEALTH CONCERNS

The purpose of your initial visit is to determine what your health concerns are and whether chiropractic care is appropriate for you.

If you have any concerns about chiropractic care, please let us know! We want you to feel at ease from the minute you walk into our rooms.

In order to determine whether your health concern is a chiropractic case, your chiropractor will conduct a complete and comprehensive health and lifestyle history, physical examination, orthopedic examination and neurological examination. During this time, your chiropractor is going to be observing for changes in  your posture and movement patterns. Any musculoskeletal tightness or tenderness in your back or other tissues will also be noted. Orthopedic and neurological tests are conducted to rule out any serious conditions. If clinically indicated, you may be required to have X-rays taken before your chiropractor proceeds with any treatment.

Your initial consultation will take approximately 45-60 minutes but may take longer depending on your history and current health concerns.

TREATMENT

After determining that you are a suitable candidate for chiropractic care and providing informed consent, you will receive your first treatment which may include chiropractic adjustments.

An adjustment is a gentle high-velocity, low-amplitude movement applied to an area that is not moving the way that it should.  This is generally done by hand. In some cases, the chiropractor may choose to use an adjusting instrument known as an Activator.

By doing an adjustment, we are aiming to restore movement at that joint and to improve the communication of your brain with the rest of your body through your nervous system.

At Adelaide Spinal Health and Wellness, we use a drop table (where sections of the table are raised and drop down as the chiropractor puts pressure through the different segments of your spine). Your chiropractor may also decide to use pelvic blocks.

Rest assured, all of this will be explained before proceeding.

If at any point, you have questions or concerns, please discuss them with your chiropractor.
